Icon of the Seas is currently considered the largest cruise ship in the world by size and capacity. It is about 1,198 feet long and has a gross tonnage of over 250,000. The ship has around 20 decks, making it extremely tall compared to older cruise ships. It can carry up to around 7,600 passengers plus more than 2,300 crew members. That means nearly 10,000 people can be onboard at once. Compared to earlier ships, it is noticeably bigger in both length and volume. It also has more public spaces and attractions than most other ships. Its size allows for entire themed areas called neighborhoods. Overall, it clearly stands at the top in terms of scale.
