May Day is a public holiday in many countries, but not everywhere. It is officially recognized in dozens of nations across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In these places, people often get the day off work and attend events or celebrations. However, countries like the United States and Canada celebrate workers on a different date called Labor Day in September. This difference is mostly due to historical and political reasons. Even in countries where it’s not an official holiday, May 1 is still widely known. Overall, it’s one of the most globally recognized days related to workers and labor rights.
