What is the weather like in Alaska?

Alaska has a wide range of climates depending on the region. In general, it is known for cold winters and cool summers. Northern parts of the state can experience extremely low temperatures and long periods of darkness in winter. In contrast, summer brings very long days, sometimes with almost 24 hours of sunlight. Coastal areas tend to be milder but wetter, with more rain and snow. Interior regions can have bigger temperature swings between seasons. Snow is common in many parts of the state for much of the year. Weather conditions can change quickly, especially in mountainous areas. Overall, Alaska’s climate is one of the most extreme and varied in the U.S.
