Hirohito married Princess Nagako Kuni in 1924 in an arranged royal marriage. Together, they had seven children, including five daughters and two sons. Their eldest son, Akihito, later became emperor after Hirohito’s death. Like many royal families, their children were raised with strict traditions and formal education. Despite the formal setting, their marriage is often described as stable and supportive. The family became more visible to the public after World War II. This helped make the imperial family seem more relatable to ordinary people.
