
Leonardo DiCaprio grew up in a creative but modest household in Los Angeles. His mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, worked as a legal secretary and was born in Germany. His father, George DiCaprio, is an artist and comic book distributor. His parents separated when he was very young but continued to raise him together. He is an only child, although he has a stepbrother from his father’s side. DiCaprio has said he was very close to both of his parents growing up. Their support played a big role in helping him pursue acting from a young age.
